Summer

Apart from its 350 km-long network of hiking paths, the Saas Valley also has a wide variety of summer activities for both old and young: summer skiing and snowboarding, mountain-biking, mini-golf, pétanque, pit pat, trekking on horseback, scooters, aerobics, climbing sessions for children and sunrise excursions, to name but a few.
Saas Grund, situated at an altitude of 1560 metres above sea-level, enjoys a dry climate with few allergens, which is of benefit to people who suffer from allergies and asthma.

Kreuzboden is the ideal starting place for undertaking the legendary Saas high-altitude trails (e.g. Gspon or Almagelleralp) and the Jägihorn via ferrata. The alpine flower walk with its 250 different species of flowers also begins here. Kreuzboden itself has a large number of attractions. You will find "Hohsi-Land" here with its many different games for children and a small zoo. Make a detour to the Kreuzboden lake, which is a famous and favourite place to take photographs with the Mischabel chain in the background. If you want to go higher up, it is best to take the gondola-lift to Hohsaas. You have the most spectacular view of the mountains from here.

Easy hikes and high-altitude hikes If you prefer to take it easy, we have just the right thing for you: a selection of easy but rewarding hikes which don't always require going up too high. High-altitude hikes in the Saas valley: surrounded by four-thousand-metre peaks, you pass by centuries-old gnarled larches high above the valley floor - a sublime feeling. With the adventure pass of the Saas valley you can use all the cable cars and the buses as often as you like in the entire valley during 7 days. This way you are totally flexible in choosing your hiking destination. You can profit from many extras as well.
Themed and educational trails / GPS-Tracks Learn as you hike - hike as you learn. You will not only enjoy the unique natural surroundings but will also increase your knowledge on our themed and educational trails. GPS, short for Global Positioning System, is a satellite-based navigation tool. More and more outdoor sports enthusiasts use a navigation system. You can find GPS routes for climbers, mountains bikers and hikers on the Internet.
Mountaineering and Skitouring When you see the ring of summits surrounding the Saas valley you can only gaze in wonder. The many four-thousand-metre peaks tower towards the sky and awaken our sense of adventure. Mountain-bike tours Explore the Saas Valley on a mountain bike! A network of trails about 70 km long awaits the mountain-biker. Various companies organise both easy and more challenging guided tours for visitors. All tours can, of course, also be undertaken independently. The Saas Valley bike card can be bought at the local tourist offices. The Saas Valley has about 70 km of sign-posted bike trails. There is a trail to suit every mountain-biker.
Summer Skiing and Snowboarding Would you like to go skiing or snowboarding right in the middle of summer? Visit our summer ski area at 3600 m above sea-level. Despite the heat in the Rhone valley in summer, you will have the best conditions for skiing and snowboarding in the Saas-Fee ski area. Skiing in very pleasant temperatures on 20 kilometres of varied glacier pistes is great fun in summer. Both national and international ski teams train in the summer ski area.

Relaxation and adventure: Summer holidays in the Saas Valley

The Saas Valley is situated in the south of Switzerland on the border with Italy. Well-known resorts such as Locarno and Ascona in the canton of Ticino are at the same latitude. The Saas Valley enjoys a mild, evenly-balanced climate despite its high altitude, as indicated by the unusually high tree-line and the rich and colourful alpine flora among other things. Visitors can enjoy around 300 days of sunshine a year.
